Prada shoes and sneakers are extremely pricey so it may be helpful to learn how to spot fake Prada sneakers. Not everyone has a budget large enough to be able to afford luxurious Prada brand sneakers or other designer duds. Due to the high prices, counterfeiters make replicas as more affordable options. Some try to pass the fakes off as being the real thing. You end up paying hundreds for a sneaker worth a few dollars. There are several ways to spot fake Prada sneakers.

In order to spot fake Prada sneakers, you will need:

  • A trained eye
  • Sneakers
  1. The shoe box. If the Prada sneakers come in a shoe box, study the box. Fake boxes will usually say "Prada" across the top. There should be no logo on the top of the authentic box. Only the logo on the side should be displayed. It should also contain the model information and suggested retail price. A real Prada box is not made of cardboard. Instead, the box should be made of corrugated plastic.
  2. The insole. A real Prada insole will be removable. If you cannot remove the insole, it is a fake. In most cases, fakes glue the insole to the shoe. It should also say "made in Italy" under the Prada logo.
  3. Compare designs. Search the web for the specific Prada sneakers in question. Compare images of the models. Sometimes things may be slightly off. The lace color may vary, a stripe may be higher, or the back may be different. Prada is high-quality. If the quality does not seem great, most likely the shoe is a fake. Those who sell fakes often use only stock photos on their websites or listings. Ask to see pictures of the actual shoe.
  4. Trust your intuition. Everyone knows the expression, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." The same goes for Prada sneakers. If an unknown retailer or private seller is offering an exceptionally great deal on the latest Prada sneakers, you should proceed with caution. Odds are, the shoes are counterfeit.
