If you want to know how to stop the aging process entirely, you might want to go read a science fiction book. However, if you want to stop the aging process from getting out of hand, there are many things that you can do. Staying healthy and avoiding certain things will help you to avoid signs of age without spending thousands of dollars.

What you will need to do to stop the aging process:

  • Eat healthfully
  • Exercise
  • Avoid certain substances
  • Wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure
  • Try anti-aging products (optional)
  1. Eat healthy, natural foods. A healthful diet is comprised of a variety of natural foods (meats or other proteins, vegetables, fruit, dairy and whole grains). A diet high in fatty, sugary, processed foods that lack nutrition can lead to poor health. And, poor health often makes people look older than they really are.
  2. Exercise regularly to stop the aging process. Even if your exercise is simply walking your dog every day, that is much better than sitting around watching TV or otherwise being sedentary. For even better health, combine weight or strength training, stretching and cardio workouts for at least a half an hour every day. If you plan to start a strenuous exercise routine, check with your doctor first to make sure that you are healthy enough for it.
  3. Avoid smoking, drinking and other drugs to stop the aging process. Heavy smokers, drinkers and drug users look much older than they really are. If you really want to stop the aging process, cut back on or completely quit these habits.
  4. Stay out of the sun. Heavy tanners may look beautiful and golden when they are young, but they can anticipate plenty of wrinkles when they are older. When you do go outside, wear plenty of sunscreen to avoid wrinkles and stop the aging process.
  5. If you do not want to completely change your lifestyle, you can try procedures or anti-aging products to stop the aging process. Some people love plastic surgery and Botox, though these options are expensive and cause some people to just look strange. You can also experiment with prescription or over-the-counter anti-aging products to see what works best for you.
