If you bite your nails, you need to learn how to stop biting your nails. If you don’t stop biting your nails, you may become prone to infections, spreading of bacteria, and you may even have to deal with dental problems down the road. Sound like fun? Not so much. Here is a step-by-step guide to stop biting your nails.

  1. Cut your nails. Cut them as short as you possibly can (without snipping the skin underneath the nails). The less fingernails you have, the less there will be to chew on.
  2. Then smooth the edges with a nail file. Many people chew on their nails because the edges are rough. To help stop biting your nails, you will need to keep them smooth.
  3. Option 1 to stop biting your nails: Apply a nail biting cream. It will taste disgusting and, hopefully, deter you from your nail biting for a little while.
  4. Finally, use sheer willpower. Every time you find yourself biting on your nails, force yourself to stop. Sit on your hands if need be.

It isn’t as hard as it seems to stop biting your nails. All it takes is a little willpower and a few handy tricks to keep from chewing on them. If nothing else works, keep in mind that if you don’t stop biting your nails, they may become infected and disgusting. Gross!
