Learning how to stop a porn addiction can be particularly tough in the modern age with the wide availability of porn on the Internet. Sometimes, a porn addiction can be detrimental to a person’s life or even ruin relationships. Like any other addiction, it’s important that the individual actually wants to stop, and with porn addiction, this can take a long time to happen.

  1. Therapy can be very helpful in learning how to stop a porn addiction. Sometimes a therapist can help you see solutions and problems that you wouldn’t see otherwise. In this case, therapy could include actually visiting a qualified therapist, or it could also include spiritual therapy if you are a religious person.
  2. Put your computer in a more public place. This can be inconvenient, but you are a lot less likely to get caught up in porn if you keep your computer in the living room of your house instead of a bedroom or an office. You may not want to leave things this way, but it can still help stop porn addiction if you use it on a temporary basis.
  3. Talk to somebody about your problem, and get some support. Maybe you could find a support group out there for porn addicts, or maybe you could go to a friend. When you bring somebody else in, they can help you keep your eye on the prize so that you don’t backslide, and this can be very important when trying to stop porn addiction.
  4. Put a filter on your computer, and let somebody else set up the password for it. Sometimes, a brute force method like this may be required to stop a porn addiction.
  5. Find other things to do. There is an old saying that idle hands are the devils workshop, and when it comes to porn addiction, this is definitely true. Porn is the sort of thing you pursue when you’re bored with nothing else to do. Get a hobby or find something to focus on.
