How To Take Apart A BMX Tire

Learning how to take apart a BMX tire will be a money saver in this case. Unless you are rolling dollars out your ass, then saving money is something you’ll want to practice. Simple maintenance actions like taking a BMX tire apart will save you cash. This article will give you the step by step instructions you will use to take apart a BMX tire.

Things you will need for this maintenance activity:

  • BMX bike
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Adjustable wrench

How to take apart a BMX tire:

  1. Find an open area for the maintenance. Lay the BMX bike flat. Use the adjustable wrench to remove the nuts holding the tire in place. Set the removed nuts aside.
  2. Carefully remove the chain and set aside. You do not need to totally remove the chain; just from the rear wheel (if you are removing the front wheel you needn’t remove the chain). Pull the tire back or down to completely remove it from the BMX bike.
  3. Lay the BMX tire on a flat surface. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry between the bottom of the BMX tire and the rim. You will want to pop the tire completely out of the rim. Do this around the entire rim, on one side. The BMX tire should easily come off the rim at this point.
