- Determine which side the water or coolant is leaking from. If water is leaking from the right side of your engine, almost behind your front right tire, then more than likely your water pump is leaking. Please note that most cars' water pumps are located on the right side of the engine. If you determine that water is leaking from any place where the water pump may be located in your car, then the issue may be a leaking water pump.
- Determine whether you have a faulty air conditioner. The air conditioner is one of the main ways to tell if there is an issue with your water pump. If your car is not blowing cool air when the setting is on cool, then that means the coolant or water is not circulating the way it should be in your car's coolant system. A leaking water pump would be a factor to consider.
