BlackBerry phones are some of the most popular smartphones out there on the market, and learning how to text on an 8700c BlackBerry phone is not difficult to do. With the 8700c BlackBerry features and full "qwerty" keyboard, sending a text message is relatively easy. A BlackBerry allows you to send text messages to any phone that is capable of receiving text messages. With a text messaging plan you will not be charged to send or receive a text as long as you stay within your text messaging limits. Texting on a BlackBerry is called SMS (Short Message Service). Read on for tips on texting on an 8700c BlackBerry phone.

  1. Go to the main menu and go to "Messages." Once you are in the message menu, click on the track wheel and select "Compose SMS."
  2. Select the contact name you want to send a text to on your 8700c BlackBerry phone. When the address book appears, scroll down to the contact name you want. Click on the contact name and select "SMS" from the menu that appears next.
  3. Compose a message on your 8700c BlackBerry phone. In your texting window, press the desired keys to type your message. This phone allows you to type only up to a certain amount of characters in a text message, so be aware of this number at the top as you type your message.
  4. Send your message. Once you are finished typing you message in the texting window on your 8700c BlackBerry phone, click the track wheel and select "Send" to send the message to your contact.
