How To Throw A Summer Cocktail Party
Understanding how to throw a summer cocktail party will make that warm weather event as easy and breezy as summer itself. A get together with close friends over cool, summer cocktails is a fun and simple way to entertain. A party doesn’t have to be complicated to be impressive. Some of the most memorable affairs are the ones that seem almost effortless.
- Select a location. Choose a spot where you and your guests will be comfortable. If you plan on having the party outdoors, have a back up plan ready in case it rains.
- Decorate the space. Set the mood with festive décor. It doesn’t have to be extravagant; even colorful paper plates and napkins can help to create a party atmosphere.
- Choose a signature cocktail. Although you may want to have a variety of beverages available, featuring a signature cocktail will aid in setting the type of atmosphere you want to create. For summer, a cool refreshing cocktail is best. Think along the lines of margaritas, mojitos, or daiquiris, but put a personalized twist on the drink to make it your own.
- Set the menu. Even though it’s called a cocktail party, guests will still expect something to nibble on. Serve a variety of appetizers that complement the cocktails. Again, this doesn’t have to be complicated. A cheese and fruit tray is a great start. You can also order a party platter from a favorite restaurant, or choose among the many hors d’oeuvre options available in the freezer section of any supermarket. Of course, if you want to show off your culinary talents, then by all means do so.
Summer is a time when people have a lot going on, so give your guests plenty of notice of your cocktail party. You’ll want to invite your guests at least two weeks ahead of time. You should also plan on having alternative transportation available after the event. Some of those summer cocktails go down real smooth; you don’t want your guests to be driving while intoxicated.
