Learn how to throw a surprise party so that you can give your friends and family great parties for big occasions such as promotions, birthdays and anniversaries. Surprise parties are a great way to give someone a treat on a special day, and they can be an excellent way to blow off steam and have a lot of fun. With proper preparation and hard work, you can learn how to throw awesome surprise parties for whomever you wish.

  1. Before you throw a surprise party, you should find out whether the party is acceptable, necessary, or even a good thing. Some people hate surprises, and you obviously do not want to throw this type of person a surprise party because it will only make him upset and backfire on you. For office surprise parties you will usually need permission from your boss. Make sure you have enough information and the permission necessary to throw a proper surprise party.
  2. You should pick a theme when throwing a surprise party. Pick something you know the person or people will enjoy and have fun with. For example, if a popular movie just came out about pirates, then you could have a pirate-themed surprise party. Some themes will be obvious, such as birthday surprise parties and anniversary parties.
  3. Contact all the guests for your surprise party discreetly. Using email or the phone are some great ways to do this, but make sure you do not accidentally inform someone you are trying to surprise. Also, you need to make absolutely sure that you inform everyone of the importance of not divulging the party information to the people or person being surprised.
  4. Make sure that the guest being surprised is positively coming to the party. Think of a great excuse to have him come to your chosen venue and make sure he makes it there. If all has gone according to plan, then he will have no idea he is being surprised and everything should fall right into place!
