How To Tie An Alpine Butterfly

People who enjoy rock climbing may be wondering how to tie an alpine butterfly knot. The alpine butterfly knot is used during rock or mountain climbing. It is primarily used for the middle man while climbing. Learning to tie an alpine butterfly is easy, but you must be careful and tie the knot correctly.

To tie an alpine butterfly knot, you will need:

1. Form a loop. The first step in tying an alpine butterfly knot is creating a loop. You can do this by taking the right side of the rope and crossing it over to the left. There should be a loop hole right in the middle of the rope with the two ends of the rope hanging.
2. Form two loops. You will now need to twist the loop. This will create two loops. The middle of your rope should look something like the number eight.
3. Fold your loop. When tying the alpine butterfly, you will need to grasp the top part of the upper loop. Next, you will need to fold in underneath the line. Your rope should look something like a circle with a loop inside of it. The inner loop is located at the top and the line will be right under it.
4. Continue to wrap it. Take the bottom of the large loop and pull it through the original loop. The alpine that you are working on should start to resemble a real knot.
5. Pull the knot. To finish off your alpine butterfly knot, continue to pull the same loop. Pull until the knot is tight. This will leave you with a knot with a small loop coming out the top. That loop should be connected to the second person or load of your choice.
