How To Tie Skateboarding Shoes

There's no way you can be considered cool and not know how to tie skateboarding shoes. Check out how the cool kids hide their shoe lace ties before you hit the ramps and get laughed out of the skate park. Try to use flat laces instead of rolled ones whenever possible.

To tie skateboarding shoes, you'll need:

  • Skateboarding shoes
  • Skateboarding shoe laces

Steps

  1. Put your skateboarding shoes on your feet. Cinch them up as much as necessary without making them too tight. You want as little leftover lace as possible.
  2. Stick the end of the shoelace towards the inside of the shoe in the last hole of the lace-up. Tie a knot in the lace, making sure the knot stays hidden on the inside of the shoe, near your ankle.
  3. Hide the end of the knot. If there isn't a little slot to stick it in on the inside of the shoe (yes, some shoes really come with a hide slot), just cram it down as far as possible so you don't feel it. You'll get used to it and forget about it as soon as you begin skateboarding.
  4. Repeat this process with the other three lace ends. Re-tighten the laces if necessary, in the event that you loosened them during the knotting process. Don't knot the ties any more than once, or you might have difficulty getting them out. Depending on how loose your shoe is, you might be able to leave the knots in and just slip your shoes on the next time you skate.
