Need to learn how to tie a winter scarf? Scarves can be tricky, because there are so many different ideas about how to tie a winter scarf.  No one wants to look awkward in a scarf, which leads to the loss of so many potentially-great scarf moments.  In order to not miss out on your own great moment, consider a simple, traditional approach to tying your winter scarf.

To wear a winter scarf, you will need:

  • A scarf
  1. Fold the scarf in half.  For those of you with small children, this may seem more familiar as “hamburger” style.  The scarf should now be half as long as its original length.
  2. Place the scarf around your neck with the ends hanging down in the back.  This is where folding the scarf becomes helpful. It is difficult to see if the ends are even when they are behind you.  At this moment, the scarf should be forming a type of band around your neck as the ends dangle freely behind you.
  3. Bring both ends forward, so that they are now in front of you.  Your neck has now been double-wrapped in your scarf.  It has been wrapped in front, and now bringing it forward wraps it up in the back.  Adjust the ends as needed to make them even.
  4. Enjoy your own cozy winter scarf look! Remember not to take your scarf too seriously.  These are some simple steps for a casual, elegant look.  If you would prefer to try another approach; go for it.  Scarves are soft and pliable, making them perfect for experiments with tying and knotting.
