How To Treat Flu
Flu season is right around the corner, and it's best to know how to treat flu before it comes after you. Flu season is one of the worst times of the year, because almost every American gets the flu every year. Commonly, the flu lasts about a week and a half, give or take a few days. However, that week can be a miserable week to say the least. While the flu must take its course naturally for it to be gone, there are several things you can do to treat the flu and help the symptoms become better faster.

- Sleep and rest
- Flu medication with sleeping aid
- Elevated pillows
- Blow your nose often with the flu. One of the most common traits of the flu is a stuffy and runny nose. Both can be miserable and unlivable. When you have so much mucus in your body, the only way to help it get better is to get it out. Instead of sniffing your nose and sucking it back down, try to blow out as much mucus as possible each time you feel it coming back.
- Sleep, sleep and more sleep will only help. While it's hard to rest while you have so many issues and body aches, it's best to take flu medications that help you sleep, even in the day time. The more sleep and rest you have, the faster your body will heal. Rest is the number one cure and treatment for the flu.
- If you have a sore throat, gargle. Gargling with salt water will help your throat heal faster and also reduce the soreness you may feel. All it takes is a teaspoon of salt and a cup of warm water. Try gargling four times daily to help reduce a sore throat caused by the flu.
- Constantly drink fluids. If there is anything you can hold down, drink it. Fluids will help the mucus inside your body break up and move more fluidly, helping you feel better and heal faster. Not only does it help congestion, but it also hydrates your body from the fever you may run. Fluids can help bring down fevers and relieve your body aches.
- Sleep with your body elevated when you have the flu. Congestion is a horrible thing, and it's even worse when your body is flat. By elevating your body when you lay down, you are helping that mucus and congestion move faster. When you lay flat, it stays in one place and can often build up in your lungs and cause worse sickness. If you are elevated, you have a better chance of coughing and blowing out that congestion and mucus, helping you get better faster.
