Need to know how to treat ringworms? Ringworms are small fungi which can infect both humans and animals. They manifest as small, red, raised bumps that are shaped like a circle. While they are not necessarily dangerous, they are easily spread with simple skin contact, they can itch, and they are embarrassing. The presence of ringworms is also a sign of a weaker immune system. Learn how to treat ringworms and improve overall well-being at the same time.

  1. Eat yogurt. Yogurt and any fermented foods, such as miso soup, can help treat and prevent any type of infection. Make sure you are eating at lest one serving of yogurt a day for the probiotics.
  2. Apply garlic topically. An easy, homemade remedy to treat ringworms is crushed garlic and olive oil. Use one clove in two tablespoons of olive oil. Apply a thin layer of honey to the infected skin, then spread on the garlic oil. Cover with a thin gauze to hold in place. Wash off after four hours.
  3. Take an anti-fungal bath. Soaking in a tub with five drops each of lavender and cedarwood essential oil can help treat ringworms. This is a really great remedy when the fungal infection has spread to several areas of the body because all of your skin is immersed.
  4. Use tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is one of the best natural remedies for disinfecting the skin. To treat ringworms, dilute in water or vegetable oil and dab onto the skin. Do this at least twice a day for best results.
  5. Colloidal silver can be used to treat ringworms. Another powerful natural antibiotic is colloidal silver. If you don't use tea tree oil try dabbing this solution onto the skin with a cotton ball twice a day.

Now you know how to treat ringworms. You can get rid of this fungal infection without the use of prescription medication or steroid creams, which would further suppress the immune system.
