How To Treat Scrotal Itch

A man may experience an itchy genital area for any number of reasons, but the cause of the rash determines how to treat scrotal itch. Two common causes of scrotal itch are heat rash and jock itch. Heat rash symptoms may include: a rash that is red or bumpy in appearance; the sensation of burning, prickling or stinging pain.  Jock itch symptoms may include: itching and discomfort, a skin rash that is red or reddish-brown, a rash that is scaly or has bumps which resemble blisters, a rash on the groin, inner thighs, butt, or skin folds but usually not on the scrotum or penis.

To treat a scrotal itch due to heat rash, you will need:

  • 1% hydrocortisone cream
  • Loose fitting cotton underwear
  • Soap and water
