Learn how to treat sinusitis on your own. But if these methods don’t work, go to your doctor because there are antibiotics and other such things that can be taken for sinusitis.

  1. First, you’ll want to relieve the discomfort. Since sinusitis clogs the nasal cavities and sinuses, it can be a very unpleasant experience. To help ease this, try some steam. There are a few ways you can do this: take a hot shower, the steam will be inhaled naturally; hold your face over a bowl of hot water; or get a washcloth coated in hot water and drape in over your face for a few seconds.
  2. Try pressing to relieve the pressure from sinusitis. Instead of massaging your nose area directly, gently press above your eyebrows and in your T-zone. This will help reduce headaches as well as the pressure in your nasal cavities.
  3. Drain your nasal passages. This can be done by using what is called a neti pot. You can purchase this at a grocery store, and it looks like a small teapot. Rinsing with salt water has been found to reduce sinusitis inflammation and other symptoms, so follow the instructions on the neti pot to do this.
  4. Eat healthy. Since sinusitis is an infection, having a strong immune system can help prevent it. Eating healthy and getting the right amount of sleep can help make your body that much stronger and able to defend itself. Along with healthy food you might want to try some spicy foods, as they have been well known to clear the sinuses quickly!
