If you're trying to figure out how to treat yeast infections in men, one might wonder what kind of fun you've been having lately. Yeast infections in men, though not as common as yeast infections in women, do happen. Just like the yeast infections that women can develop, yeast infections that guys can have are just as easily treated. Just make sure that the weird crap hanging out around your genitals really is just a yeast infection first. Because, the treatment for a yeast infection isn't going to clear up something as serious as an STD. Once you've established that your unwanted visitor is nothing more than a male yeast infection, and not something far more dastardly, you can get on to treating it. Here's how to treat yeast infections in men.

What you need to treat your yeast infection:

  • over the counter yeast infection topical cream
  1.  The symptoms. Before you go crazy thinking your yeast infection is something different, check out some background information on the symptoms. A male yeast infection is characterized by an itchy or burning reddish rash at the base or on the shaft of the penis. You could also have an itching and burning rash on the head and tip of your little soldier. Now before you get upset with your girlfriend, dig this. Though you can develop a yeast infection from having sex with her (if she has one herself) it's very uncommon. You're more likely to develop your very own yeast infection from outside influences similar to her. For example, extended use of antibiotics can cause your little soldier to develop his itchy reddish war wounds. Also, buddy, it's far more likely that your woman got her yeast infection from you because you didn't clean well enough. So, before you get all upset with her, remember to soap up your little guy a bit better when you're in the shower.
  2. Treatment. Fortunately for you, treating your male yeast infection is quite simple. Go get some of that stuff your girlfriend uses when she has a yeast infection. Wash the affected areas and dry them thoroughly. Apply the topical cream on the areas twice a day. If the symptoms don't disappear within a week, then you should see a doctor.
