Even small upgrades in a graphics card can produce great results and if you are willing to spend the money, your computer programs will have a much higher quality in no time at all.

Things you'll need:

  • Graphics card
  • Screwdriver
  1. Before you upgrade your graphics card, make sure it is a smart decision. If your computer is already slow due to its old processor and motherboard, you probably should not just upgrade the graphics card. You would be better off upgrading the whole computer or just buying a new one.
  2. When you have decided to upgrade to a new card, be sure to not upgrade to a card your system cannot handle. Look at the minimum requirements that the card has and make sure your computer at least has this. It would be better to have a more powerful computer so that it can run the graphics card at its full potential.
  3. After choosing a new graphics card, make sure you shop around and find the best deal. You can look at several stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart to see if they have any sales on graphics cards. You can also look online to see where you can get the best deal from. Make sure you look as much as you can stand because you could end up saving yourself a lot of money if you get lucky.
  4. To finish upgrading your graphics card you will need to uninstall the old one and install the new one. Uninstall the old drivers of your original card and take it out of your system. Put the new graphics card in your computer and install the new drivers on the CD that came with it. Now your computer should be ready to run programs with much better quality and efficiency.
