How To Use Acrylic Paint

Things you need to use acrylic paint:
- Spray bottle
- Acrylic paint
- Canvas
- Old newspaper or paper towels
- Water
- Painting brushes
- Squeeze a small amount of paint from your paint tubes. It is important to use a small amount to keep the paint from drying up to quickly. Keep a spray bottle with water on hand and dip your paintbrush into the water to dilute the acrylic paint. This helps reduce the chances that your paint may dry up.
- Obtain old newspapers or paper towel. Take the paper towel or newspaper to wipe your paintbrushes after you rinsed. This helps to keep your paint from mixing in with other colors. It also reduces the amount water that goes on the canvas and cause colored streaks in undesired areas.
- Use paint in varying degrees to achieve the paint design you are looking for. Opaque look requires you add a small amount of water and add a large amount of paint. If you desire a watercolor or an airbrush look, then you will need to use more water to dilute the acrylic pain. However, you have to be careful that you do not add a lot of water. Adding an excessive amount of water will cause your pain to run and damage the look you are trying to achieve. Diluted paint is usually permanent; however, you have the option to repaint the damaged area later.
- Create a transparent or shiny finish. Apply multiple layers of thin paint first and then apply a single heavy layer. This will create the glossy appearance.
- Paint a sharp edge. Do this by placing masking tape on your canvas, and press the tape tightly on the canvas. Make sure the canvas tape edges are in place tightly. This step will keep the painted area smooth and clear when you are ready to move the tape.

- Always have water on hand when you paint because this allows you to dip your brushes in the water easily. It also ensures that you thin the acrylic paint while keeping your hands clean, especially when you change colors.
