How To Use Dog Grooming Combs
Do you want to learn how to use dog grooming combs? Dog grooming combs are an efficient way of keeping your dogs coat clean, healthy and manageable. Grooming your dog at home is an easy way to save money, and normally doesn’t take a whole lot of time.
Materials needed:
- Shampoo
- Combs
- Brushes
- Leash
- Collars
- Make sure you have the proper combs and brushes for your breed of dog. They vary greatly per breed, and if you’re not sure what you need for combs and brushes be sure to speak with your veterinarian. Some breeds of dog will need several different combs and brushes for grooming all layers of fur.
- Using a brush, go over the coat several times. Make sure you groom and comb the underside, legs as well as his chest. If you do not groom your pet enough they can develop mats which can irritate the skin and will allow bacteria to grow. If you neglect your dogs coat long enough mats will show up and you will need to get your dog shaved.
- If you’re combing your dog and you feel a lot of dirt and grim it is best to give them a thorough bath. You shouldn’t give your dog a bath too often as it will remove good oils and dry the skin. You should bathe your dog at least once a month, unless a vet gives you specific instructions to bathe them more or less. After your pet dried, it's good to give them a thorough combing to remove shedding hair.
While you’re grooming your dog you might also want to cover some other hygiene issues. Eyes, ears, teeth and nails will be needed to keep your pet happy and healthy.
