How To Use A Fax
Knowing how to use a fax machine can save you a lot of time in personal or business affairs. Household fax machines are becoming more and more common, due to the convenience of not having to travel to an office supply store and pay to use a fax. Many printers have a fax machine included, and you can often use a fax machine as a scanner as well. The instruction manual that came with the fax machine should go over any individual settings pertaining to your make and model.
- Prepare all of the documents you would like to fax. Fill out any necessary information and sign any areas required.
- Create a cover letter. Cover letters are standard additions to faxes. Cover letters should state who the fax is to will, how many pages there are, the intended fax number, and your phone or fax number.
-
Enter the fax number into the fax machine. Most fax machines have a number pad, similar to the one on a keyboard or telephone. There should be a display showing you what number you have dialed, and this can help you prevent sending the fax to the wrong person.
-
Place the documents into the fax machine with a cover letter on top.
-
Hit the send button and wait while the fax machine dials. After dialing the number it should ring, pick up, and start feeding the documents through the machine.
- Wait for the fax to finish. The machine should print out a confirmation that the fax was successful, or at least display a confirmation on the screen.
