How To Use GPS On iPhone 3g

You just got an iPhone and want to know how to use GPS on a iPhone 3g. If you have an iPhone you have already probably discovered that with the right applications it does just about everything. The iPhone is a very popular phone that comes with unlimited amount of features and tons of benefits. GPS in just one of hundreds of great features that the iPhone has to offer. Learning how to use GPS on the iPhone 3g is easy and very convenient, and can navigate you just about anywhere around the world.

  1. Make sure "Location Services" is turned on.  From your home screen tap "Settings." Next, locate and select "General" tab. If "Location Services" is not turned on, select it to turn it on, and save it.
  2. Pull up the GPS on your iPhone 3g. From your home screen select  "Maps." In the bottom left corner of the screen you will see a scope icon that you need to select. When your iPhone ask if "Maps" can use your current location simply click "OK." Your current location will pull up on the iPhone 3g GPS.
  3. Input your destination. Tap "Directions" near the bottom of the screen, and type the address in the "End" field of where you want to go. Once you enter you destination address into the "End" field tap "Route."
  4. Make sure your mode of transportation is accurate. At the top of the screen there is a car, public transit, and pedestrian icon. Tap the correct transportation icon to make sure that the right route is calculated. At the top of the iPhone 3g screen you will also see how many miles it is to your destination and the amount of time it takes to get to that destination.
  5. Follow the step by step directions. When you are ready to begin your route press the "Start" button on the screen's upper left hand corner. There is a purple road and a blue sphere tracking device on the screen indicating your route that you should follow. You can zoom in if your want more detailed information about your route. Follow the step by step directions given on your iPhone 3g GPS until you get to your final destination.
