How To Use Gymnastics Training Bars
Gymnastics incorporates many aspects into one sport and learning how to use gymnastic training bars is one of them. The use of gymnastics training bars can be good just to get a little extra exercise going or they can be used to train for competition. The use of the bars produces and intense upper body workout that can build strength in the person's entire upper body. It may be easier to use the training bars if you have a an average amount of upper body strength to begin with. If not you can still learn through the use of these strategies to use with gymnastics training bars.
- Place support padding/mats underneath the area in which you will be using these bars. Gymnastics training bars range in a variety of heights so falling of off a bar with no padding to fall onto can be extremely painful. The padding is a safety precaution that you should take when using these training bars. Don't worry even Shawn Johnson uses padding.
- Adjust the bars so that they fit your needs. Training bars that you can use from home typically come with a snaplock that allows you to adjust the training bars. Therefore, you can easily make the gymnastics training bars higher or shorter.
- Apply chalk to your hands and grab onto the bars. Chalk is used to prevent your hands from slipping off the bars, but then again it can only do so much. It is also up to you to hold onto the bars with all the strength in you. If this does not work for you then you can use grips which will also help prevent you from falling off of the bars.
- Once you have grabbed onto the bars you can bring your body up above the bar and hold it there. This is good for beginner and experienced gymnasts. When it comes time for you to begin performing tricks on the bar you will need to be able to stay on the gymnastics training bars for long periods of time.
