How To Use An iPod Nano
It's very easy to learn how to use an iPod Nano. Each iPod Nano comes with three crucial components: the iTunes CD, the iPod Nano USB Charger, and the iPod Nano. This quick guide will show you how to use an iPod Nano with each of these components, from the moment you take it out of the box to the moment you're listening to music.
- iTunes CD. iTunes is a software program that is required if you want to do anything with your iPod Nano. Take this CD from the box, put it into your CD or DVD drive and install iTunes and Quicktime. You can also visit http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ to download iTunes and Quicktime without the CD. Once iTunes is installed, you need to start it up so you can upload your music to iTunes, which is a necessary step if you want to use your iPod Nano. When iTunes is running, press the "File" tab at the top left of the program, then click "Add File to Library." Find the song file you want to upload into iTunes (and your iPod Nano) and click it. If you have a folder of music, use the "Add Folder to Library" option.
- iPod Nano USB Charger. There are two types of iPod chargers- the wall charger and the USB charger. They are interchangeable with all kinds of iPods. You need a USB charger to upload music onto your iPod Nano. Plug the longer part of the cord into the long slot at the bottom of your iPod Nano and the shorter part into the corresponding slot on your computer. Once properly connected, your iPod Nano will automatically start and iTunes will automatically run. Your songs will "sync" (be uploaded) to your iPod Nano.
- iPod Nano. Once you have plugged your iPod Nano into your computer using the USB charger, you only have to wait a few moments before you're ready to use your iPod Nano. Gently unplug it and put earphones in the earphone jack at the top right of the Nano. Turn your iPod Nano on by pressing the "Play/Pause" button at the bottom of the iPod pad. Turn it off by holding down the same button. Press the "Menu" button to get to the main menu. Then, when the "Music" option is selected, press the center button and select whichever musical category suits you best. To automatically play your music, scroll down from the main menu and select "Shuffle Songs" with the center button.
Everyone can learn how to use an iPod Nano. There are many more complicated options to better categorize or customize your music, but you should get the hang of the basics before you learn these. As it is, the basic options will give you the ability to play your music. Every time you plug your iPod Nano back into your computer, it will be synced with any new songs you've uploaded into iTunes. Have fun!
