When learning how to use a scanner you must have a computer to connect it to. This way you will be able to edit whatever has just been scanned. Sometimes scanned pictures and text do not come out as clear as you would like, but they can be touched up on the computer. There are some computer programs that will help you with editing and learn how to use a scanner.

  1. Scanning a document. When learning how to use a scanner it is important to know how to scan a document. A scanner simply takes what you have placed on it and makes a digital copy. But before you can make any digital copies you must make sure that the scanner has been installed correctly. You might scan but if it is not connected to a computer then it can not be edited. So make sure that the scanner has power and that the computer is reading it. You must have everything set up correctly when you are learning how to use a scanner.
  2. Different settings on the scanner. Depending on what type of scanner you have purchased, you will have different settings to choose from. If you need your scanner just to scan documents and not do anything special, get something cheaper. Do not waste your time and money getting a scanner with a tone of features that you will need to learn when trying to find out how to use a scanner. Do not make your learning process more difficult than it needs to be.
  3. Saving what you have scanned. Once you have learned how to setup your scanner and use its functions, you must also be able to save what has been scanned. There are many different types of files that a scanned document can be saved as. Be sure when learning how to use a scanner that you know how to save the document properly. Some files will only open in specific programs, that is why it is so important to know how to save. So think about what you will be using the document for ahead of time, and save it as the proper file. If you do not know, then save it as a few different files just in case.
