If you want to keep up with the leading trends, you need to learn how to use Twitter. Twitter is a brand-new blend of social networking and blogging, letting people keep up with their friends while sharing their thoughts in 140 characters or less. If you're learning how to use Twitter, you're taking the first step to keeping abreast of almost everything that is going on in the world while showing your technical prowess!

In order to learn how to use Twitter, you're going to need the following:

  • A Computer
  • An Internet Connection
  • Things To Tweet About

  1. Sign Up! You can't learn how to use Twitter without signing up for the site! Go to the official website and click on the "Sign Up" link. From there, fill in your information, select a username, and you're good to go! That's all you need to do in order to start utilizing this trendy new website!
  2. Upload A Picture Of Yourself. This is one of the easier parts of learning how to use Twitter. Simply go into the "Profile" section of your page, and select the "Profile" option. From here, you can upload a picture of yourself from your computer's hard drive and give your Twitter its own personality!
  3. Consider Changing Your Layout. This can be done by going into your "Profile" section, then the "Design" tab. From here, you can select from one of Twitter's many pre-created layouts. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, you can select your own background image and colors to truly make your Twitter page your own. This is just one of the many ways to truly learn how to use Twitter.
  4. Start Following People. This is one of the fun ways to learn how to use Twitter. Many of your friends and favorite celebrities may already use Twitter, so you can follow them to stay abreast of all of their updates. Simply go to their profile page and click the "Follow" button and, if they accept your invitation, you can start reading what they're writing about.
  5. Keep It Relevant. One of the ways that people misuse Twitter is to post, or "tweet," about absolute nonsense. These topics include what they're eating, what they're wearing, what they think of Twitter, and so on. The best rule for this is to think about whether or not you'd put that information in a phone call. If you wouldn't talk about that to a friend or relative, don't post it on Twitter.
