How To Wakeboard
You can easily learn how to wakeboard by following a few simple steps. The most important thing to remember is to relax. Remember to stick with it. Don’t expect to learn how to wakeboard like a pro your first time. It is a skill that must be acquired over time and practice.
- Use an experienced driver. In order to safely learn how to wakeboard, you must have a good boat driver who knows what he is doing. The driver should gradually increase the boats’ speed for the wake boarder to better participate in the activity. The boat driver should only go about fifteen miles per hour.
- Work with proper rope length. While it is generally easier to learn how to wakeboard with a shorter rope, the rope should be between 30 and 50 feet long. This length will not only keep the wakeboarder safe, but will allow you to learn proper technique.
- Concentrate on good technique. To stand on the water, you must keep your arms extended and placed in front of your knees. This should be done while you hold onto the handle. You need to pull your ankles in close, keeping your knees to your chest.
- Focus on weight distribution. Proper weight distribution is vital to successfully learn how to wakeboard. As the boat begins to pull out of the water, take this time to place about 60 percent of your weight on your front foot. The other 40 percent of the weight needs to be placed on your back foot. If done correctly, the board should maintain adequate balance.
- Practice the correct stance. Remain in the downward position until you are fully out of the water and properly balanced. Slowly begin standing up with the upper body first. After this is done, shift the weight from the front foot to the back foot and slowly stand up.
Following these steps you can learn how to wakeboard with practice and patience. In order to do so you must not have any fear about the water. An experienced driver is a must for safety and the ability to wakeboard.
