How To Wash A Bicycle
You may ask yourself how to wash a bicycle. This is not a hard thing to do if you just follow a few simple steps. Just like anything else, that you own you will want to keep your bicycle clean and in good condition. A bicycle can be used for traveling to various destinations such as to work, school, shopping and for going to visit family and friends.
- Clean off the bicycle. The first step to wash a bicycle is to clean off debris stuck on the bike. People that use a bike everyday will ride through water, mud, dust and dirt. The dirt can accumulate on the tires, spokes, and frame of the bike making it look very dirty. By taking a soft bristle brush and a soft cloth, you can remove most or all of the debris on the bike before you wash the bicycle.
- Support the bicycle. Before you get ready to wash a bicycle stand it up on a rack if you have one so that it will not fall over while you are washing it. You can lean it along the side of a wall if you prefer. Some people may turn it upside down for washing. The important thing is that it is stable and does not fall over causing damage to the bike. Just using the kickstand will work for some bikes but for others it may not be enough support.
- Wash the bicycle. To wash a bicycle is an easy process that requires just a few steps. You will need mild detergent, water, sponge and a bucket. Mix detergent and water creating a nice heap of suds. Dip the sponge into the soapy water then apply the sponge to the entire bicycle wiping it down. Wipe off all the dust, dirt, grease and grime that is on the bike. In some areas, you may have to scrub a little longer if you cannot get the dirt off with one simple wipe down. Stay clear of areas on the bike that you do not want to get wet. While you wash a bicycle, keep an eye out for anything wrong with the bike such as any rust.

Spray off the bicycle. After washing, the easiest way to spray off the soap and water is with a water hose. Spraying is a good way to make sure that the bike has been washed off properly. This will also allow you to see if you have missed a spot. If you do not have a water hose, you can use full buckets of water.
