Learning how to wash a fiberglass boat is important for anyone who owns such a vessel. Spend some time while you are cleaning it, and wash it as often as is necessary, and after each use, to keep your boat in tip top condition. Only a few supplies are needed to undertake this project. Following is some advice on how to wash a fiberglass boat.

You'll need the following materials to wash a fiberglass boat:

  • Sponge
  • Bucket
  • Dish detergent
  • Scrub brush
  • Hose
  1. First, spray the entire boat down with the hose. Mix some dish detergent and water in the bucket, and use the sponge to wash down any stained areas, or places on the hull that were exposed to saltwater. This should remove most of the superficial stains that a boat acquires during its use.
  2. Spray the boat down again very well, and see if any stains persist. If some deeper stains or marks where the hull scraped the bottom or the dock remain, you will need to use the scrub brush.
  3. Dip the brush in the detergent and water, and firmly scrub the boat where stains are found. Tough stains may take some time to remove, so pace yourself well, and keep at it. Scrub up and down, and then side to side. Spray the boat with the hose occasionally, to see if the stain washes off after it has been thoroughly scrubbed.
  4. Once all stains are removed, spray the boat down again very well. Make sure that all the scum from the detergent is removed. Then, leave the boat to dry, and repeat the above process after each time you use the boat.

Learning how to wash a fiberglass boat is an important part of maintaining it. Wash it after each time you use it, and be sure to do a good job each time. This will keep your boat in great shape, so that you can continue enjoying it for years to come.
