Learning how to wear job interview clothing can make or break your chances. Job interview clothes are an important part of finding a new job. What you wear is not only part of the first impression,  but also projects an image of you to the interviewer. Above all, make sure you are dressed appropriately and have all the necessary interview tools available.

  1. Make sure the clothes fit. It doesn't matter if you are wearing the most expensive designer suit in the world, if it doesn't fit, you don't come across well. In the same way, you may have on clothes that you picked up at a thrift store, but if they fit well, you look better. Pant should fit well around the waist and have the correct inseam for your body.
  2. Clothes should be clean. Brand new clothes may not need to be washed before you wear them, but anything else you put on needs to be washed before the interview. Having a stain on a shirt or pants makes you look like someone that does not take pride in his appearance and may not be the right person for the job. Along these same lines, personal hygiene is also a must for a job interview.
  3. Clothes should be pressed or ironed. You want to look like you have things together. A shirt that isn't ironed makes you look like you jumped out of bed with just enough time to throw on a shirt from the floor and head over to the appointment. Take the time to have wrinkle free clothes.
  4. Always overdress for an interview. No matter what position you are interviewing for, be sure that you wear nice pants, a shirt and a tie. Why? This shows the person you take the offer of a job seriously and you want to continue to work hard for promotions and higher positions. You give the impression that you are serious about doing a good job. It isn't just about what you wear, it is about how you wear interview clothes.
