Need to know how to wear roller hockey pads? Roller hockey can be much less fun if you aren’t wearing roller hockey pads. Those pads are made for a reason, that reason being to keep you from getting hurt. If you are a beginner, it is advisable that you learn how to properly wear roller hockey pads before you try to do any tricks. Here are a few steps that will help you wear your roller hockey pads the right way.

To wear the proper roller hockey pads, you will need:
  • Shin guards
  • Elbow pads
  • Shoulder pads
  • A helmet
  1. Shin guards. In all cases, shin guards belong exactly where the name states: on your shins. If you happen to get hit on your shins while you aren’t wearing your roller hockey pads, then it will hurt. Make sure that the shin guards are tight enough that they do not slide down as you are skating around.
  2. Elbow pads. So that you do not get confused, your elbow pads are usually labeled. This allows you to know which pad belongs on which elbow.
  3. Shoulder pads. The shoulder pads can be worn by putting them over your head and putting your hands through the strap openings. It is almost like putting on a shirt.
  4. Don’t forget your helmet. You may not look cool playing roller hockey with a helmet on, but you also won’t look cool when you end up falling face first in the hockey rink. Do yourself a favor and do not play roller hockey without your helmet on.
Now you’ve seen that learning how to wear roller hockey pads is the easy part. It's about time that you put those pads to use.
