If you do not always like wearing a suit, you might want to learn how to wear a sports jacket. Sports jackets are more versatile than suits since you can wear them with different colored pants. You can also wear a sports jacket without a tie, which allows you to still wear a jacket without looking too formal.
To wear a sports jacket you need:
- Tie, if necessary
- Buy a sports jacket that is a dark color such as navy blue. You can wear a sports jacket that is navy blue to many types of places. Go to a men’s clothing store and try on some different sports jackets. Make sure the salesman helps you decide which sports jacket looks best on you, or have your girlfriend or spouse go with you.
- If you are going to wear a sports jacket to a casual place, you don’t need a tie. It is still fine to wear a tie with a sports jacket, but you will then also have to wear nice pants and shoes. If you are not going to wear a tie you can put on a short sleeved polo shirt to wear with your sports jacket. This will allow you to be more comfortable and still have on a nice jacket.
- When you wear a sports jacket you don’t need dress pants all of the time. It depends on where you are going, but you can easily wear a pair of nice jeans with a sports jacket. If you want to wear dress pants instead, they should be a different color than the sports jacket or you will look like you have a suit on.
- The shoes you wear depend on the rest of your outfit. Loafers are a good pair of shoes to wear with a sports jacket. You can wear these shoes with dress pants or jeans. You can also wear casual shoes such as sneakers with a sports jacket, but they should not be dirty or worn.
