You've been riding your dirt bike for a while and now you would like to learn how to whip a dirt bike. Whipping is and advanced trick that can be done on a dirt bikes and it's all about the speed, jumping, and turning. Doing a whip on a dirt bike should only be done once you are already comfortable doing jumps on your bike. Learning how to do a whip on your dirt bike takes a lot of practice and can be done by learning the following steps:

To whip a dirt bike you need:

  • a dirt bike
  • a jump
  1. Find a good jump. Make sure that you are completely comfortable and confident with whatever jump that you choose to use and that it is a jump that will allow you a smooth take off. Once you find a jump practice from it turning the wheel in the air to help you get comfortable.
  2. Prepare for the jump. You want your body to be leaning slightly forward as you jump. This will help bring the back end of the bike up and around as you let off of the gas.
  3. Approaching the jump. As you begin the suspension start to angle your dirt bike in the opposite direction that you want it to whip. Once you get to the base of the lip, push your handlebars down towards the ground to help fatten out the bike. This will help you to get a really good whip going. To give you more lift let off of the throttle right before the suspension.
  4. During the jump. Allow your head and shoulder to dictate where your dirt bike is going. Your body will follow the aim of your head and shoulders. Turn the handlebars the way you want the whip to go. To stay attached to the bike hold on to the bike with your foot. When you are ready to bring your whip back bring your handlebars towards the center and shift your weight back to the center. To get ready to land the bike from the whip, simply give it a little gas to help straighten up the bike.
