Knowing how to win a snowboard competition and actually pulling off the win are two different animals. You must be able to adapt during the competition in order to win it. You will need to pull back a bit and conserve your lead when you are ahead, or go for broke when you need a big run to pull off a win. It all starts with your training, so you will need to devote many hours of preparation before a snowboard competition.

  1. If you are a snowboard racer, learn to size up your opponents. Watch some video of how the opposition races, and determine whether each one likes to lay back or charge right from the start. The more you race against your fellow snowboarders the easier they will be to read during the snowboard competition.
  2. If you are a halfpipe specialist, develop a game plan. Decide when to pull out your big air tricks and when to play it safe. To win a snowboard competition you will have to react to the scores your opponents put up. Try to build a lead, but save your best trick for last in case you need it.
  3. Watch how the successful competitors win a snowboard competition. See what strategy they use and integrate it with your own style. Study the way they handle the pressure of the big stage. For yjr halfpipe, imitating the best big air tricks is part of the game. Practice until you are confident you can perform a trick during a snowboard competition.
  4. Upgrade your board if necessary. The top snowboarders all have sponsors that pay for their equipment. If you are still an amateur, you will have to decide how much you can afford to spend to upgrade your gear. Start winning some competitions and you may end up getting a sponsor to give you a free ride.
