How To Win A Street Fight
Learning how to win a street fight does not mean the same thing as learning how to fight. Street fights are generally over within one to two minutes, and sometimes they are even shorter than that. Street fighting is not recommended, as it is illegal and dangerous. However, if you do find yourself in a situation where you are going to be in a fight, then there are several ways you can outsmart and beat your opponent without even throwing more than a couple punches.
- Be on the defensive. One of the main reasons why street fights are always over so quickly is because the people fighting get tired. Most people throw flurries of punches and haymakers right from the get go, which is a huge mistake. You are much better off trying to dodge and block most of the punches coming at you in the beginning. Your opponent will tire out, and then you can beat him or her as mercilessly as you wish.
- Be alert and stay on your toes. You should literally be almost bouncing on your toes, ready to dodge or block anything at any moment. The more ready you are for any attack, the more likely you will be able to avoid it. Good dodges and blocks will leave your opponent wide open for you to counterattack.
- Fight with your head, not just your fists. Watch your opponent’s eyes and try to figure out what he is going to do before he does it. Most people telegraph their movements, which will give you a huge advantage if you learn how to read their body language. Most important is that you stay calm and level headed. Do not go crazy and start attacking in a wild frenzy. A good fighter will easily beat you if you do this.
- Use your legs too. Most people say you should only punch when you street fight. However, the key word that you have to remember is "street." This is not usually an organized fight with rules. This is you defending yourself. Your legs are much more powerful than your arms will ever be, at least in most cases. A heel kick to the chest will easily knock the wind out of almost anybody while still keeping you far enough away to dodge attacks.
