If you are considering a career move into merchandising, perhaps you would like to know how to work for Nike. Nike is one of the leaders in athletic supplies, and a career with Nike can be quite lucrative.

  1. Choose the department within Nike for which you would like to be employed. Nike offers employment within the following departments: retail, distribution, and corporate. Each department has different requirements to include work experience and educational background. You should make this decision based on your current skill set and experience. For instance, if you want to get in on the ground floor, the retail stores would be your first step. However, if you have advanced degrees with merchandising experience you may consider applying within the distribution center management department.
  2. Get your college degree. If you plan to start a lifelong career with Nike, acquiring a merchandising or business degree will aid you in climbing the ladder. With a bachelor degree for instance, you may qualify for a corporate position with Nike. You must gain experience with the corporation before you can advance, but getting your foot in the door is a start.
  3. Gain experience. If you want to work in the retail Nike stores, you must have retail experience. If you want to work in the distribution center, you must have experience in a factory or warehouse setting. And to work in corporate, you must have corporate level experience. The more experience and the more advanced your educational background the higher the employment level you can obtain by applying at Nike.
