Learning how to wrap a head scarf is a fashion statement that anyone can learn how to do and even master after just a small amount of practice. Silk material, or some other type of thin material that is between 24" and 36" works best as a head scarf for most styles of hair. The scarf can hide the hair on a bad hair day, add style to any outfit, and keep things in place when the wind blows.

  1. In order to look gypsy like or even funky urban, there is an easy way to use a head scarf. Start with a scarf or some other large rectangular square piece of fabric and fold in half to make a triangle. Fold the material again to make a smaller triangle. Place the smooth edge on your forehead and bring the ends back and tie under the hair at the nape of your neck. You can allow the scarf to hang freely or you can tie the scarf looser and let some of your hair to peek out.
  2. Create a low bun wrap. Begin by pulling your hair back into a low ponytail. Take a square scarf and fold into a triangular shape. Lay the flat long edge of the triangle at the top of your forehead at the hairline. Pull the edges of the scarf back to the back of your head and tie securely under the ponytail. You can then twist the ponytail and the tied scarf ends together and wrap around into a pretty bun. Then stick the hair edges and scarf edges under the bun.
  3. Fashion the classic head scarf. Fold a thin square scarf into a triangular shape and place it over your head with the longer triangle edge placed just above the  hairline in the middle of the forehead. Bring the scarf ends under your chin, cross them and then pull them to the back of your neck tightly and tie in a square knot.
  4. Create a colorful scarf headband. Fold a square scarf lengthwise until it is as thick as you desire. Lay the scarf center across the top scalp of your head and  hold it in place while you hang your head upside down. After making sure all the hair has come forward, tie the scarf ends at the back of your head in a knot.     Once it is tightly secured, throw your head backward and then style your hair however you want to.
