1. Internet Explorer:  Internet Explorer accompanies the Windows Operating System and was developed by Microsoft. The most up-to-date version is Internet Explorer 9, released in March 2011, with a 10^th version being worked on currently. Internet Explorer is the most popular internet browser, based on usage.
2. Mozilla Firefox: Firefox is a free Internet browser that ranks second on a popularity scale based on use. As of April 2011, the most current version of Firefox is 4.0.1. Firefox supports the addition of various plug-ins such as language plug-ins to assist foreign-language learners in reading and accessing websites in a language they study but lack fluency in. Additionally, some users who prefer Internet Explorer often have Firefox as a back-up for certain websites that present difficulty loading in Internet Explorer, such as online classroom websites.
3. Opera: Opera is another free web browser which may be downloaded but does not come with Windows or other operating systems. Opera is compatible with most popular operating systems, including Windows. Adobe Systems includes Opera with the Adobe Creative Suite software. For those that access the Internet from a Nintendo system such as the DS or Wii, Opera is the only browser available as well.
4. Google Chrome:  Google Chrome is an Internet browser first released to use with Windows in 2008 with the public version released later that same year. Google Chrome’s popularity has grown to put it third in line behind Internet Explorer, the most popular web browser, and only one behind Firefox though the difference between Firefox and Chrome is significant.
