Iphone 4 Antenna Fix
There are several different thoughts on the iPhone 4 antenna fix. The phone was released in the middle of the controversy surrounding this problem. Although Apple knew of the problem, the iPhone 4 was released anyway with users around the world experiencing dropped calls as soon as they got it. The problem is experienced mostly by left hand users, because their hand covers what is believed to be the antenna. There are a few different things you can do to solve the problem.
- Hold it differently. This was Steve Jobs initial answer to the iPhone 4 antenna problem. You can just change the way you hold the phone so your hand is not covering up the steel bands on the sides of the iPhone.
- Use a silicone bumper case. Apple will provide the bumper for iPhone 4 users who are having the problem. Once the bumper is on the phone it should keep your hand from covering the antenna, so no more dropped calls.
- Make your own Mylar wrap. Buy an adhesive Mylar product from a hobby store. This is used on model airplanes. Measure it to fit the outside rim of your iPhone and wrap it around the entire perimeter of the phone. This will cover up the antenna so your hand does not come in contact with it. This is a good solution for people who do not like covers for their phones.
- Electrical tape. This works the same way as the Mylar wrap, but you can use electrical tape to wrap and cover the antenna. Cut it to just fit the side of the of the iPhone 4 where the antenna lives, and just wide enough to fit the edge so it doesn't cover up any of the screen.
