iPhones are an extremely popular smart phone and there are so many applications available that choosing among the many iPhone GPS apps may be daunting. However, there are those that are more useful than others so here is a list of the best iPhone GPS apps that you can find.

  1. Tom Tom for iPhone. This iPhone GPS app is similar to the Tom Tom brand of car GPS units where you can view the time it'll take to get to a specific location as well as the directions. It lists delays and you can browse maps. It has very high ratings from users and supports the latest IOS on iPhone.
  2. Magellan RoadMate. This iPhone GPS app offers 3D buildings, text to speech, pedestrian mode and lane assistance. It also has in-app music control and is similar to its car mounted counterpart.
  3. Garmin Streetpilot. This is the first GPS app from Garmin that is for the iPhone. It has functions for multi-tasking, traffic updates in real time, text to speech and local search, including speed limits. It has maps but they are available in an "on demand" type of basis at the present.
  4. Mapquest 4 Mobile. If you're familiar with using Mapquest online then you are familiar with this application. It's free and you can hear the instructions and directions read to you, hands free. It also has a couple of handy features called "Find Me" and "Reroute" that are easy to use and best of all, this iPhone GPS app is free.
  5. Mobile Maps America. This is a nifty little GPS app that gives the user turn by turn directions and has 3D maps that are quite impressive. There are even international versions of this "super" GPS.

Every day, new iPhone apps come out and while these are some of the best available at present, things change constantly and new apps will be available. However, if these iPhone GPS apps do the job well then there's no need to find a better application unless you have the time and patience to try some of the newer versions when they become available. If you want to save money, then do a search for "free GPS app" on your iPhone and try out some of the lite versions or totally free versions. However, if you depend on a GPS application to get around for work or travel, then you may want to try out a paid version that has more benefits and features.
