Juvederm Side Effects

Juvederm side effects are usually mild to moderate. Juvederm is an excellent wrinkle reducer. It is a cosmetic product that acts as a treatment for any unwanted facial lines. It is an injectable gel and requires no surgery. Most patients have a Juvederm treatment in their cosmetologist's office and leave only a few moments later. Recovery time is minimal and there is practically no down-time.

  1. Injection Site Reactions. Sometimes where the Juvederm is injected into the skin, there can be a mild reaction to it. This side effect will include redness, some slight pain and tenderness when touched. This side effect will also include some swelling at the site of the Juvederm injection; this will feel firm. There can also be a bit of bruising as well as itchy lumps and bumps at the Juvederm injection site.
  2. Infection. As with most skin procedures there is a risk of infection. This can be easily avoided by drinking plenty of water and keeping the Juvederm injection site clean. Ask your doctor about ways to avoid any type of slight infection at the area to avoid this side effect.
  3. Allergies. Typically, patients do not have an allergic reaction as a side effect. Juvederm is made up of Hyaluronic acid and its fillers are usually biocompatible. Meaning getting tested for allergies isn't necessary. However, patients with a history of anaphylaxis, multiple severe allergies, a history of being allergic to gram-positive bacterial proteins, or having an allergy to lidocaine need to talk with their doctor and may have an allergic reaction as a side effect.
