To make the most of your workouts, take advantage of some kickboxing exercise tips. Kickboxing first became popular as a competitive sport in the United States around the 1970s. Kickboxing has now become a popular cardiovascular exercise. There are cardio kickboxing exercises and workout DVDs just about everywhere. The effectiveness of a kickboxing workout depends on what you put into it. In addition, keeping the proper form and doing the positions right prevents injury. Use these kickboxing exercise tips to sculpt your body.

  1. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Loose, comfortable clothing allows you the best range of motion. Wear cross-trainer sneakers as they are perfect for moving front to back and side to side.
  2. Get medical clearance. Before beginning this, or any fitness program, visit the doctor for an exam. A full physical exam is recommended before beginning kickboxing exercise. If you are seeing a new doctor, make sure to advise him on any past injuries or health conditions.
  3. Pace yourself. An important kickboxing exercise tip is to start slowly and work your way towards your fitness goals. Start by doing simple kickboxing routines two to three times per week for 20 to 30 minutes per session. Increase the amount and duration slowly until you have reached your desired level.
  4. Take a class. While there are kickboxing exercise DVDs available, that's not the best way to learn. There is an increased chance of injuring yourself without getting proper instruction on form. A kickboxing exercise class is also helpful to motivate and push you harder than you may push yourself.
