Lacrosse techniques and tricks are used by smart players to win games. Part of being a successfully lacrosse player is having the power, strength and endurance to make it on the field. However, you also need to have strategy to win lacrosse games. Lacrosse techniques and tricks can help you develop the strategies that work for you, as well as the skills all lacrosse players should have.

  1. Incorporate agility training into your routine. Agility is very important in lacrosse. Players tend to focus most on strength and endurance training, but without agility, these skills don’t amount to much. When completing endurance exercises, vary your movements. When you’re out on the lacrosse field, you will need to quickly be able to zigzag around other players as you run, all while paying attention to where your competition is and where the ball is. Instead of running in a straight line while training, complete speed workouts in the same zigzag pattern you’ll use on the field.
  2. Work on your physique. Another important element of your training is how you build your muscles. For success in lacrosse, you need to have lean, powerful muscles. Too much bulk can actually get in the way. You also must have a very low body fat percentage, meaning that eating a healthy diet should actually be incorporated as part of your lacrosse training.
  3. Make practice all about shooting. An important lacrosse technique to use during training is to really work on your ability to shoot accurately. Nine times out of ten, you should have your lacrosse stick in hand while practicing and be shooting or catching the ball. This includes while completing agility and endurance exercises. The only times shooting should not be a focus in when you’re in the weight room or if you’re the goalie.
  4. Don’t get lazy during the off season. You should be practicing a minimum of three to four times a week during the lacrosse off season, and you should be incorporating all of the above lacrosse techniques and tricks. You cannot let your body get out of shape or your skills to get rusty. Once the season starts again, you want to be ready to hit the ground running. This means that your practices during the off season need to be just as intense as they are during the regular lacrosse season.
