- Improve your speed by performing a running lacrosse training drill. Start at the goal line on one end of the field. Run as quickly as you can to the other end, then run to the midfield line. Run back to the other end of the field, then back to the midfield line and finally back to the end. Repeat this lacrosse training drill for beginners twice at the beginning of each practice.
- Boost your endurance by going for a two mile run at the start of each practice. Running drills are tough, but so is staying in the game. Run two miles around the field at the beginning of practice once a week. As you build your endurance, increase the distance you run by half a mile.
- Learn to handle the ball with stick training drills. You need to learn to carry the ball across the field and around obstacles without dropping it. Set up ten cones across the field. Each cone should be fifteen feet apart. Run in a slalom pattern through the cones, holding the stick with a ball in the net in your hands. Switch hands at each cone, making sure not to drop the ball. If you drop it, you have to start over again.
- Practice passing drills. A good lacrosse player knows how to pass the ball to his teammates. Line up in two rows that face each other. One line can be on the goal line and the other on the midfield. The first player in each line runs towards the other. The player on the goal line has the ball. When they meet, the goal line player must pass the ball to the midfield player. The goal line player returns to the end of his line while the next player in line comes out. The midfield player then passes the ball to that player and runs to the end of the line. If the ball is dropped, the players must start over.
