If not, then you might just not be approaching your lacrosse training in the right way. Focus on excellence and pushing yourself to the extreme when training for lacrosse.
- Build more lean muscles. Power is definitely a must when it comes to succeeding in lacrosse. But your muscles shouldn’t be big and bulky. Instead, they should be lean and mean. To get this result, drop the weight down five or ten pounds when weight lifting and do each repetition at about twice the speed as you normally would. Before you know it, you be ripped and ready to go.
- Gain speed. This is a must if you’re going to be a star player on your professional lacrosse team. Practice running from one side of the field to the other in full gear as fast as you can, taking short breaks at either end.
- Work on agility. Add agility movements to your speed workouts. Instead of running in a straight line, run in a zigzag pattern or a circle. This is more akin to how you’ll be running around opponents on the field, and it will give you the agility you need to dominate.
- Shoot to score. Shooting is one of the most important skills a professional lacrosse player as. After all, you can’t win the game without accurate shooting, no matter how ripped, fast or agile you are. Scoop up and shoot about 30 lacrosse balls in a row. Ask another player to act as goalie to make it more challenging, and get someone else to act as an opponent trying to steal the ball.
- Warm up, cool down and stretch. These three things should be a part of every training session you complete. Warm up with a light job to get your muscles loose and ready to take a beating. Do a few leg and arm stretches to prevent injury. Do the same thing after your training workout.
