Lacrosse workouts for beginners are a mix of different types of workout routines. To be a successful lacrosse player, first you need to get your body into good physical condition because lacrosse is an extremely demanding game. Then, you need to incorporate lacrosse-specific drills into your workout to prepare you for real life game conditions.
- Work out with weights. Building upper body strength is extremely important in lacrosse. You need to have power and strength to shoot the ball, defend yourself and overtake opponents when they try to tackle you or steal the lacrosse ball. Try to get into the weight room at least two or three times per week.
- Run in your lacrosse gear. Shooting and passing are something that almost all lacrosse players need to do. Take time each day to work on your power and accuracy when shooting and passing.
- Get in the goal. If you’re the goalie on your lacrosse team, then your workout drills will be a bit different. You should be inside the goal as your fellow players work on their shooting skills. Try to block as many goals as you can. Be sure to wear all your gear during the workout to protect yourself and mimic real life conditions as much as possible.
