Lake Orion Schools
Lake Orion schools are not well known or famous for being the "Ivy League," of public schools. Yet, they are efficient and serve their community well. What more can you ask from a public school system? Probably not much. However, they should be required to offer effective programs to educate and promote student growth.
- Lake Orion High School. Don't let the name deceive you. This school serves grades K-12 and is the main hub for the 5,000+ plus metro area. Lake Orion High School (LOHS) is there for over 2,600 area students. . .and it looks like this won't change anytime soon. LOHS is ranked as a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Government.
- Waldon Middle School. This middle school is probably the epitome of the Lake Orion School system. With principal Randy Groya's strong leadership, and their wireless classroom's, Waldon Middle School is certainly preparing their students for the 21st century. Their mission statement to, "educating students in a way conducive to the unique academic and social needs of the emerging adolescent," is evident by the way this institution operates.
- Blanche Sims Elementary School. Now to where it really counts. Before students can benefit from Waldon or Lake Orion High School, they must be properly prepped for the upper stages. Blanche Sims has cutting edge technology and equipped teachers to lead the way. Yes, proper leadership is important, but a strong staff (which Blanche Sims is known for) sets the tone.
- Lake Orion Baptist School. Yes, its a little pricey. And, no, its not public. But who cares about affiliation when it comes to quality education, right? Exactly. This small private institutions serves over 124 kids in the community and boasts a competitive computer lab, small teacher to student ratio and 16-well maintained individual classrooms.
- Stadium Drive Elementary School of the Arts. Stadium Drive is not your traditional school. Who else offers a media center, technology room and music room? Well, this school does. Rated as a National Blue Ribbon school in 2000-2001, including recognition for ArtServe Michigan 'School of Distinction. . .Stadium Drive does not lack for elite recognition.
