If you would like to learn to do the sleeper hold wrestling move, then you are probably interested in dominating your opponent. When done correctly, this move is highly effective; however, it can also be dangerous. Before you attempt to do the sleeper hold wrestling move during a wrestling match, be sure you know how to execute it correctly.

  1. Get behind your wrestling opponent. The sleeper hold wrestling move needs to be executed from behind. It will also help the effectiveness of the wrestling move if you act quickly and surprise your opponent.
  2. Wrap your arm around your opponent’s neck. This is where the sleeper hold can get a bit dangerous. Using your dominant arm, position yourself so that your elbow is on the middle of your opponent’s neck. This way, you keep direct pressure off the wind pipe for now.
  3. Apply pressure. You opponent’s neck should now be wedged between your forearm and bicep. Squeeze the two sides of your arm together to apply pressure to either side of your opponent’s neck. Do not apply pressure to the front of the neck during this part of the move.
  4. Cut off oxygen temporarily. To accomplish this, use your dominant hand to grip your opposite upper arm. Push your opponent forward. Now, the front of his neck will be wedged into your elbow, which cuts off his air supply temporarily. You only need to apply the move for a few seconds.
  5. Let go of your opponent. After applying the sleeper hold wrestling move for a few seconds, your opponent will get woozy and go limp. Once he loses energy, let go. Cutting off his air supply for too long can cause long term effects or in extreme cases, death.
