Learn how to play the piano in order to develop your musical creativity and master one of the most versatile and beautiful sounding instruments in the world. The piano is actually considered a percussion instrument, but it is capable of creating dynamic music of all different genres and styles. - Learning how to play the piano will require you to learn the notes and scales. You will learn about several different scales such as the whole note scale or the chromatic scale. - When you learn how to play the piano you will need to develop your all of your fingers. A lot of beginners without any training will try to play the piano with their dominant fingers, which are usually just the pointer and/or middle fingers. However, anyone with any basic piano training will tell you that you need to develop all of your fingers in order to play the piano effectively. Practice using all of the when playing notes, chords, and songs and eventually it will seem unnatural not to use them.
- Take lessons if you want to seriously learn how to play the piano. A good piano teacher will be able to help you progress through the basics extremely rapidly. They can give you great instructions on different drills to do to increase playing speed and effectiveness. They can also help you learn to read sheet music and play by ear rather than sight. Learning how to recognize different notes will be a key to success in your overall piano playing skills.
- Practice seriously and practice often if you really want to learn how to play the piano. 30 minutes is a minimum amount of daily time you should spend practicing to truly develop your skills. However, playing for an hour or more per day will allow you to make much greater gains in the short and long term. Practice drills that increase your speed, accuracy, and note recognition. After warming up with these drills, practice playing your songs and developing your overall abilities.
