Learning How To Run
Learning how to run is a little different then the simple running you did as a kid. Technic is important when learning how to run. It will make a world of difference when you actually start your program.
- Warming up to running. Once you have in your head that your ready to start running. Lets warm up to the Idea. Mentally you want to know that you can do it. Realize your goal and make it yours. Physically warm up by massaging your legs, arms, hands and feet. Relax and let the process calm you. Stretch your muscles. You want them to be loose and agile. Some even like to jog in place a little just to get the blood flowing. Once your warmed up, you will feel your energy level rise.
- Breath Deep and steady. Remember, Learning how to run, is mostly cardiovascular. You want to breath both out of your nose and in your mouth, rhythmically. Take the air deep in your body. Fill your lungs with air and allow the oxygen to flow in your body. You need to keep your muscles well provided with a constant flow. Breathing will keep your energy up and help drastically lower your chance for injury.
- Form is important. When learning how to run, you need to learn how to move your body. Form is important in may ways for your body. Keep your head high. This is not just a saying. It helps you to keep open air ways and allows for better circulation. Keep your shoulders square. Movement should be even on both sides of the body. This allows for balance and a smoothness in your running. Bring your knee up. You want to increase your range of movement. This will help with flexibility, and your joint stress. Land your Feet Square. To reduce the amount of impact on your feet, land with the middle of your foot making contact first. Remember to keep your tow and heel up.
- Cooling down. This is an important step that many runners neglect. Who wants to walk it off when you have just run 5 miles. Don't give in. When cooling down, you want to bring your core temperature down gradually. Take a walk or jog. Lightly stretch a little. Just keep moving. This will reduce tenderness, muscle fatigued and soreness.
Learning how to run is not hard. When done right, running is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. It helps with your circulatory system and can help relive stress. Lace up those shoes and hit the trails.
